Stool examination for Giardia cysts and other protozoa

This analysis is necessary to diagnose the presence of parasite eggs in the lower digestive tract.

How to prepare for the analysis?

There is no special preparation for a stool analysis. A clean container is used to collect stool, which can be purchased at a pharmacy or the Mamyn Dim clinic.
Feces are collected in the form of 1/2 teaspoon after a natural bowel movement. Enemas are not allowed to collect feces. Avoid getting urine and genital secretions in the feces.
With a single test, the effectiveness of detecting parasite eggs in feces is about 30%. If parasites were not detected during the first test, this does not mean that they are absent. If the first test result was negative, it is recommended to conduct the test twice more with an interval of 3-4 days. The material for the test must be delivered to the laboratory within 2 hours after collection.
