What you need to know about analysis

Kidney function tests (which include creatinine, urea, and uric acid) are performed to assess kidney function. These biochemical markers are important for detecting and monitoring kidney disease and other conditions that may affect the kidneys.

Creatinine: This is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate from the muscles. The kidneys remove creatinine from the body. Elevated levels of creatinine in the blood often indicate impaired kidney function.
Urea: This is the end product of protein metabolism. It is formed in the liver and excreted through the kidneys. High levels of urea in the blood can indicate kidney problems or dehydration.
Uric acid: This is the end product of purine metabolism. Elevated uric acid levels may indicate a risk of gout, kidney stone formation, or impaired kidney function.
